(Audio contribution to the event «Celebrations of a Humanistic Pedagogy» from 25 April 2024)
The lecture series «Celebrations of a Humanistic Pedagogy» did not take place at the Goetheanum this time, but at the Rudolf Steiner House in Stuttgart. It was an afternoon with opportunities for subsequent discussion of five public lectures that Steiner had given in the Gustav Siegle House from 8 to 11 April 1924. It was the last public educational event with Steiner in Stuttgart, so this fifth part also took place in Stuttgart.
Peter Selg, Constanza Kaliks and Philipp Reubke focussed on the content in relation to the historical significance, the tasks for schools and the facilities of the first seven years in the present day.
Steiner's lectures from that time are now published in volume GA 308 under the title «The Essentials of Education».

With this series, the Pedagogical Section hopes to be able to provide you with suggestions for engaging with the content even after 100 years and incorporating it into daily teaching practice in line with today's circumstances.
Two further events on Steiner's lecture series from 1924 (in Arnhem in the Netherlands and Torquay in the UK) will follow.
