Rudolf Steiner was not the only one to call for a change in pedagogy in the 20th century. It was no longer the rules of church and state that were to be decisive for teaching, but the nature of the child. The methods as well as the content of learning and living conditions were to be redeveloped on the basis of the child's understanding.
The Swiss educationalist Edouard Claparède called this change a «Copernican turn». In the meantime, a tendency is becoming noticeable in many countries that would like to reverse this turnaround.
In the lecture series «Voices of a humane pedagogy», the Pedagogical Section presents, in addition to Claparède, seven other great pedagogues with a humanistic way of thinking. These are: Henryk Goldszmit alias Janusz Korczak, Emmi Pikler, Martin Buber, Paulo Freire, Célestin Freinet, Denis de Rougemont and Adolphe Ferrière.
