In autumn 2023, the lecture series «Celebrations of a Humanistic Pedagogy» on Rudolf Steiner's educational courses entered its third round.
This time, Constanza Kaliks, Philipp Reubke and Peter Selg (the heads of the Pedagogical Section and the General Anthroposophical Section) focused on the context, key messages and topicality of Rudolf Steiner's lectures, which he gave from 5 to 17 August 1923 in Ilkley in northern England. The lectures, which were later also called the «Ilkley Course», were later published in German in GA 307 under the title: «Gegenwärtiges Geistesleben und Erziehung» (in English: «Education and Modern Spiritual Life»).
«Celebrations of a Humanistic Pedagogy»
Since 2022, the Pedagogical Section, together with the General Anthroposophical Section, has been continuously illuminating various topics from Rudolf Steiner's pioneering educational courses in the lecture series «Celebrations of a Humanistic Pedagogy». (Click here for the first two lecture series from 2022, which you can still watch free of charge).
The courses Steiner held from 1921 to 1924 in Dornach and Oxford, among other places, were milestones and in a certain sense also «celebrations of a new art of education». They were marked by the future, by light, confidence and élan. At the same time, they were the last noisy years of his public work.
